LP - Sam Bourcy (1-1)

The Hogz dropped their second game of the year in the first game of a doubleheader against Mikkelsen Insurance. The Hogz bats started off warm, but cooled off soon after. Four of the first five batters started off with hits, but only two of the batters ended up coming around to score. Baserunning mistakes and the lack of extra base hits ended up killing the Hogz. The team finished with only one double and 12 singles. For the second week in a row the Hogz defense kept them in it and made big plays throughout. In the fourth inning, with the Hogz still leading 3-1, Brian Kibler made an outstanding running catch out in leftfield to rob their big power hitter, "Mr. Fist," of a sure double. In the following inning, with the same score, "Blondie" knocked a single into left-centerfield with their head coach, "Blumpkin," on second base. Jessamy Alto hit shortstop Kris Kunde with a bullet from the outfield and he proceeded to make a perfect relay throw to catcher Matt "Mauer" Peterson who tagged out "Blumpkin" at home. It felt like the Hogz defense was going to get the team out of the inning unharmed. They couldn't do it, though. "Danimal" and "Dragon Fire" followed with hits and "Nails" took a base on balls and Mikkelsen Insurance tied the game at 3 apiece.  The Hogz couldn't muster up any offense in the last two innings, but the visitors did. "Mr. Fist" came through with the game-winning RBI in the sixth for the opponents and ended up scoring later in the inning. The game finished 5-3 in favor of Mikkelsen Insurance, as the Hogz couldn't capitalize on a couple of baserunners in the final inning. Kibler, Kunde, Backlund, and Kunkel all ended with multiple hits for the game. Sam Bourcy only allowed nine hits on the mound and finished with three strikeouts.
