WP - Sam Bourcy (1-0)

The Hogz opened the season with a solid victory against the Silver Dollar Bar. The opponents opened the game strong, but the Hogz stood their ground. In the first inning the opponents took a quick 3-0 lead and had the bases loaded with no outs. After a couple big defensive outs, starting pitcher Sam Bourcy struck out the last batter of the inning to get the Hogz in the dugout with little damage.  It only took until the second inning for the Hogz bats to catch fire. Kibler, Olmstead, Kunde, and Jessie Bourcy all scored runs after getting consecutive hits. The Hogz held the lead all the way to the final inning. That is where it got a little scary. The Hogz were up 11-7 heading into the seventh, but the opponents capitalized on 5 walks by Bourcy to tie it up 11-11. With 2 outs and the bases loaded, Bourcy managed to get the opponents batter to ground out to Peterson who picked up the ball and stepped on home to end the inning. The Hogz had the last at bat in the 7th and they capitalized on it. Larson led off the inning by reaching first base on an error by the pitcher. Thomas followed her up by reaching on an error by the second baseman. With no outs, Lenarz came up and rocked a double to the outfield. Larson rounded third and headed for home. As she came down the line she tripped and scraped up her leg. Nonetheless, she got up and ran to home plate. She beat the throw, but missed the base and was called out. So runners were left on second and third with 1 out. Fletcher came up and hit a sacrifice fly to left field and Thomas tagged from third to score the winning run. It was a very good win for the Hogz.
